Restbus Simulation

Restbus simulation is performed if not all participants are available as real ECUs. The goal of restbus simulation is to test the device under test. Therefore, the absent network participants (the restbus) are simulated.

To set up a restbus simulation, you have to select and configure the signals to be sent by the simulation system. dSPACE software can show protocol data units (PDUs), messages and signals based on various supported communication matrices (e.g., FIBEX, ARXML, DBC, LDF) in a clear way to let you easily select the parts to be simulated. Various useful filters and drag & drop mechanisms let you manage this task in the blink of an eye. dSPACE software also provides helpful functions like end-to-end protection support and a simple counter. If needed, simulation models can also be used for a more dynamic test behavior, while the seamless support of Simulink® models enables a very efficient work.

To meet even the toughest real-time requirements, dSPACE offers powerful and scalable simulation hardware. By providing various interface hardware for these test systems, bus and network protocols from LIN, CAN and Ethernet to ARINC 429/664 and EtherCAT are covered.

To get a concise overview of the tests, dSPACE ControlDesk provides a large library of customizable instruments and bus layouts to set up a clear and informative work environment for monitoring and analyzing signals and variables. Additionally, ControlDesk includes various options to manipulate the signals during run time.

Supported Bus and Network Protocols

For simple bus communication tests, the dSPACE products support the following communication protocols:

  • CAN
  • CAN FD (ISO)
  • LIN
  • Ethernet
  • FlexRay
  • Powerline (SmartCharging)
  • ARINC 429, ARINC 664
  • EtherCAT
