Lecturer: Keith Lang, General Motors Powertrain
Abstract:
General Motors’ new 6-speed transmissions are controlled by an ECU that is embedded within the transmission.
This approach gives General Motors the flexibility of delivering transmissions and their controllers in one package, and also reduces wiring costs.
While the new transmission packaging gives General Motors certain advantages, it presents transmission algorithm and software engineers with new challenges.
This presentation discusses how GM Powertrain’s Advanced Power Transfer Group and dSPACE were able to overcome these new challenges and provide a flexible/low-cost solution.
This solution uses ASAM standards for both rapid prototyping and calibration without hardware modifications to the current development ECUs.
